High Current Input Power Transmitter

The High Current Input Power Transmitter (HCIPT) can use the voltage being monitored to power itself, although it does have an auxiliary input for voltage or current monitoring or another use. The current input can be self-contained up to 250 A DC or higher using an external current shunt.The current input can be bi-polar for charging and discharging applications.

The HCIPT has multi-way galvanic isolation (1000 VAC) between the voltage input, the current input, auxiliary input, the analogue outputs, the communications and the relay/transistor outputs. 

The outputs can be analogue - current 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA or voltage 0-10 V, 0-5 V.

Two digital or pulse outputs can be provided with an opto-isolated transistor output up to 1 kHz or a relay for a pulse or alarm outputs. The digital outputs can also be configured as Power or Trip/Alarms.

The facility for galvanically isolated serial communications has been included for configuration and for remote access to all the measurements and internal settings.

Specifications:

• Input currents AC or DC up to 250 A using internal shunt.
• External shunt connection possible for shunts from 250 A to 2000 A.
• Galvanic isolation of the shunt from all other inputs and outputs.
• High speed or accurately filtered options which could include frequency analysis.
• The ability to accept PWM type inputs up 100 kHz and convert them to average or peak values.
• A separate voltage monitoring input on the power supply so that the transmitter supply can be used for voltage monitoring, typically in solar panel applications.
• Various input supply options:
• 9 to 36 VDC
• 9 to 72 VDC
• 90 to 260 VAC
• An isolated auxiliary input which can be used for any AC or DC voltage or current inputs.
• Both the main and auxiliary inputs have the following features:
• Voltages from 50 mV up to 300 V
• Currents from 0 to 20 mA up to 10 A (directly input without shunt).
• DIP switch and link settings for the various input options.
• An internal 20 VDC 30 mA fused supply for loop powered transmitter inputs.
• The main input has an internal constant current source for resistance or pT100 inputs.
• Manual configuration of all inputs and outputs using DIP switches and push button.
• Future configuration using serial communications and customized dashboard running on a PC.
• Internal temperature monitoring.
• Isolated RS485 communications for Danntech serial and later Modbus RTU.
• Isolated dual outputs (sharing a common 0V) which can be configured for 0-10 V, 0-5 V, 0-20 mA, or 4-20 mA.
• Dual relay (230 VAC at 5 A) or isolated transistor outputs for alarms or pulse/frequency outputs.
• The unit will be able to do DC power measurements as well as kWh measurements using the pulse outputs.
• Provision has been made to add a display PCB to the enclosure with a clear lid so that various measurements can be displayed using large seven segment displays or optionally LCD displays.
• Connection - Bottom entry cable glands for current input/output suitable for cable diameters 4 to 10 mm with PCB mounted, power screw-terminals. One output and one power supply cable glands for cable diameters 2.5 to 6.5 mm at the bottom of the enclosure.
• Enclosure - IP66 ABS enclosure, chassis mounting, dimensions (including cable glands) 160 x 170 x 90 mm (width x height x depth). Mounting footprint drill centres 100 x 140 mm.
